Biography

See my page on the Universal Edition website.

After starting at the Épinal School of Music and pursuing musical studies at the Nancy Regional Conservatory, I joined the Paris National Superior Conservatory of Music where I received a first prize in chamber music and a unanimous first prize in trumpet performance.

In parallel, I received training in harmony and counterpoint with Noël Lancien at the Nancy Conservatory.

I was accepted into the National Police Orchestra, as well as serving as the principal trumpet player in the Lamoureux Concert Orchestra. Passionate about contemporary music, I also became the soloist for the Court-Circuit and 2e2m ensembles.

My instrumental career has led me to perform with French and international orchestras such as the Paris Orchestra, the National Orchestra of France, the National Orchestra of the Paris Opera Theater, the National Orchestra of Lille, the Ensemble Inter-Contemporain, the l’itinéraire ensemble, the Köln Ensemble, the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, the Birmingham Orchestra, the Barcelona 216 ensemble, the ICTUS ensemble under the direction of prestigious conductors such as Georges Prêtre, Myung Wung Chung, Yutaka Sado, Christoph Von Donnany, Pierre Boulez, Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Georg Solti, James Conlon, Jean Claude Casadessus, David Robertson, Jonathan Nott, Peter Czaba…

I have also been invited as a soloist to numerous festivals such as the Euro International Trumpet Guild, the IRCAM summer academies, the Présences festival of Radio France, the arts festival in Hong Kong, the Arena festival in Riga, the 38th «rugissants» in Grenoble, Musica in Strasbourg, the media week in Tokyo, and the BBC in Glasgow. I have premiered numerous contemporary works, particularly for solo trumpet and electronic device in collaboration with IRCAM, including Yan Maresz’s «Métallics,» Jongwoo Yim’s «Fluid Dispersion,» and Geoffroy Drouin’s «Crispy Grain,» which was dedicated to me. In 2004, Paul Méfano also dedicated «Speed» for solo trumpet to me, which premiered at the Paris Superior Conservatory of Music.

I have given numerous masterclasses, notably at McGill University in Montreal, the Arts festival in Hong Kong, and the media week in Tokyo.

Despite being busy as a performer, it is only in recent years that I have devoted more time to composition based on the advice of composer friends. I have written pieces for orchestra, chamber orchestra, brass ensemble, and a collection for children (The Enchanted Bestiary, Panic Circus). Two pieces have been selected for the national competition of the CMF (L’ombre du vent – wind orchestra – and Hot line – big band). Some of my works have been recorded by the Belgian Guide Orchestra and the Paris Peacekeepers. My works are published by HAFABRA and Universal Edition.

I am currently teaching at the Paris Center Conservatory.
